Flag Presentation Ceremony for the Hong Kong, China Delegation to Paris 2024 Olympics

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games will be held at 8:24 pm on July 26, Paris time (2:24 am on July 27, Hong Kong time). The Hong Kong Sports Association and Olympic Committee (Hong Kong Sports Association and Olympic Committee) held the "Flag Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong, China Delegation" at the Government Headquarters on July 9th.

 

Mr. Eric Chan Kwok Ki, Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Deputy Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr. Raistlin Lau Chun, Acting Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Ms. Christile Druhle, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, and Mr. Joe Wong, Permanent Secretary of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau presided over the flag presentation ceremony. The Acting Chief Executive presented the flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to Mr. Timothy Fok Tsun Ting, President of the Hong Kong Association and Olympic Committee, Mr. Edgar Yang Joe Tsi, Honorary Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Association and Olympic Committee, and Hong Kong, China, Vice President of the Hong Kong Association and Olympic Committee and Paris Olympic Committee The leader of the delegation, Dr T. Brian Stevenson, wished the athletes to break through themselves and achieve greater success again.

 

Mr. Eric Chan Kwok Ki, Acting Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said that the SAR government had earlier purchased the television broadcast rights for the Paris Olympics, and Hong Kong citizens can keep up with various Olympic events and cheer for Hong Kong athletes. As for the lack of air-conditioning in the Paris Olympic Athletes' Village, which citizens are concerned about, after close coordination between the SAR government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government and the Hong Kong Association and Olympic Committee, it was decided that mobile air-conditioners will be delivered to the Paris Olympic Athletes’ Village. Citizens do not need to worry about weather factors affecting athletes’ rest.

 

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Hong Kong, China, will send a delegation of about 90 people, including athletes who have participated in the Olympics many times, and more than half of whom are new athletes competing in the Olympics for the first time. 

 

At this year's Paris Olympics, athletes from China and Hong Kong will participate in swimming, track and field, badminton, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, judo, rowing, sailing, windsurfing, table tennis, taekwondo and triathlon. We hope that the public will support our athletes and enjoy the fiery sports atmosphere. This year, for the first time, athletes will compete in taekwondo.

Compared with the previous Olympics, the bonuses for this Olympics will be raised from HKD 5 million for individual gold medals to HKD 6 million for the Tokyo Olympics. Silver and bronze medalists will receive HKD 3 million and HKD 1.5 million respectively, while the runner-ups will also receive HKD 750,000. , the 5th to 8th place will receive HKD 375,000; the gold medal bonus for the team event will be increased from HKD 10 million to HKD 12 million.

The famous female fencing athlete Man Wai Vivian Kong will also compete in the Olympics. I hope that every athlete can push themselves and achieve greater results.
